CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
English
In Reading, we will be building the student’s oral language skills, developing phonological awareness, reading and comprehension skills and developing knowledge of letter sound relationships. We will begin our sight word program this term. In Writing, students will be focusing on handwriting skills including letter formation, writing their name, drawing and labelling pictures and introduce simple sentences.
Mathematics
We will have a strong focus on numbers and will learn to recognise and represent numbers to 10. We will also be exploring various mathematical concepts, including inquiry investigations on 2D shapes, patterns and data.
Religion
We will listen to stories Jesus told about love and compassion. We will explore the difference between good and bad; and right and wrong, making connections to our own personal experiences. Students will also learn about the Easter story, including the Resurrection of Jesus.
Humanities and Social Sciences
We will be learning to identify members of our families. We will be recognising familiar features of a place that is special to our families and explain why these places are important.
Health
Using the Daniel Morcombe Curriculum, we will learn to “Recognise, React and Report” situations that make us feel unsafe. Using a variety of resources and scenarios, we will explore and discuss safety situations young people may encounter in the home, at school or in their environment.
